Do you know calamine?
I decided to use it after a friend recommended it. The records of its effectiveness go back a long way. Itching is a serious problem, both in atopic dermatitis and other skin problems related to it. And it was itching that posed the biggest challenge for me when creating recipes.
When I combined great ingredients with calamine, it became a fairy tale. Wow, this ingredient is awesome!
Calamine powder is a mixture of zinc oxide (ZnO) and iron oxide (Fe203), which gives calamine its beautiful light pink color. It is extracted from natural mineral deposits and then ground into a powder. Calamine powder is one of the main ingredients in traditional calamine lotion, which is used to treat redness, irritation, and other skin discomforts. Calamine nourishes and soothes the skin.
Calamine has been used in combination with rose water for a long time and is still used today. Such a mask has a soothing effect on the skin. It is a very mild ingredient that is suitable for facial care even for very sensitive skin.
It effectively relieves itching and treats sunburn, rashes, insect bites and stings, and helps against acne-prone skin, as it acts as a mild natural antiseptic.
It is used in toothpastes, makeup, masks, soaps, and deodorants.
So what else is good about calamine lotion? Yes, coloraaaa 🙂 …The color pink represents such a super positive energy for me. My little one loves to apply it, just because it's pink, hehe. In the evening, when we go to bed (btw, she's never sleepy 😉 ), she always says that she's putting pink cream on her cheeks. Because for many children, applying it doesn't represent a positive task, but at least the color makes them feel a little bit better. I'm talking about problematic skin and many mothers have already told me how their daily routine has become more bearable and more pleasant for their children, not only because of the effect on their skin but also because of how it looks.
Calamine is found in two of our products, AtopicBalm and RashBalm Baby.
Let it inspire you 🙂
