NATURAL MOSQUITO AND TICK REPELLENT

Our family loves visiting the woods. But I have to admit, I'm getting more and more scared. Our four-year-old had three ticks in two days, and we weren't even in the woods. So I came up with a simple recipe for a repellent that will keep mosquitoes and ticks away.

You can also use it on your four-legged friends.

Abbreviation: EO (essential oil), K (drops)

RECIPE for a 100ml bottle:

  • A plastic bottle with a syringe, or an even better choice is a glass bottle (it should not be transparent)
  • empty glass mixing bowl
  • mixing spoon (non-metallic)
  • a teaspoon of salt or vinegar
  • 40ml lavender hydrosol
  • 40ml tea tree hydrosol
  • a teaspoon of salt
  • citronella 15k
  • lemongrass 10k
  • rosemary 5k
  • geranium 4k
  • spearmint 6k
  • thyme 5k
  • cloves 4k
  • lavender 6k

First, add salt to the container and drip the essential oils onto it. The salt is needed to dissolve the essential oils, as they do not dissolve in water or hydrosols, and it will also serve as a natural preservative. Then mix well and add the hydrosol. Shake the bottle well before each use. Store in the refrigerator.

You can also use oils instead of hydrosol, then you don't need salt. I prefer hydrosols because I can use the repellent on my clothes and my pet.
