Lately, I've been answering a lot of questions related to skin cleansing. What do you use to cleanse your skin now? My first question is often just water. When I get the answer just water, I never attack people in the sense of: oh, don't kid me, seriously, what do you mean just water, etc., but I explain to them nicely why cleansing with water alone won't be enough.
I like to explain that water is something priceless, it is a value, a source of life without which we simply cannot be and we can be proud that fresh and healthy water flows from our kitchen tap every day to quench our need called thirst. Our body is satisfied if we put water into it, without added sugars, but our facial skin's need for water in the cleansing process will not always be enough.
Important : During the day, our face accumulates countless dirt, impurities, dust, touches from our hands, which carry countless bacteria, all our makeup, sweating, not to mention our air, environment, the effects of constantly looking at our phone, computer... all of this and countless other factors land on our face every day. Every day . And it's there waiting for us diligently, until the evening when we decide to take a break from a busy day. At that given moment, your face is full of impurities, and water alone won't help your face remove all the dirt, even if you really want to.
Cleansing gels, creams, oils, butters, foams, micellar waters are designed to help your skin breathe, open pores, and prepare it for further steps of care with their active ingredients. If the skin on your face is cleansed well, it will more easily absorb all the wonderful ingredients, which can be even more effective overnight or during the day.
Take a little more time in the evening and make sure your skin is really cleansed before going to bed, and in the morning, don't forget that your skin was active during the night as well, and in the morning it needs a gentle cleansing and refreshment. Cleanse it gently, especially around the eye area, where the skin is particularly thin and sensitive. Don't use water that is too hot. At the end of the care, gently pat your cleansed face dry, pat it with a washcloth, cotton towel. Always keep in mind that your skin is alive and treat it gently and thoughtfully. And please, sincerely please don't try all the DIY tips that are circulating on the Internet and convince you how great they are. Lemons, coarse sugar particles, baking soda and all possible ingredients that belong in the kitchen should stay there. Okay?
If you're lost in the flood of different cleansing products and don't know where and how to start, I recommend that you keep in mind knowing your skin type and the fact that you want your cleanser to be gentle. and not directed It completely disrupts your skin's pH, which is extremely important if you want to maintain balance on your skin. Choose products that maintain the protective lipid layer with their ingredients and do not further dry out the skin when used.
The optimal pH value of the skin on the face and body is somewhere between 4.7 and 5.75 . If we focus on water, which with its pH 7 falls into the neutral range, it means that values that are lower are in the acidic range, while a higher pH defines the alkaline range. To sum it all up, it means that our skin has a slightly acidic pH, which creates an acid mantle of the skin that protects the outer layers of our skin. It is important not to destroy the acid mantle that protects our skin barrier and protects it from harmful factors, as this can provoke a weakened function of our skin barrier. Our skin can become dry, sensitive, susceptible to infections, diseases such as atopic dermatitis and many other inconveniences.
